J.Lo to Be Featured in New HBO Documentary About the “Latin Explosion”
The documentary will also feature interviews with Shakira, Romeo Santos, Sofia Vergara, and more.
J.Lo, Pitbull, and more Latino stars will be featured in a new HBO documentary called The Latin Explosion: A New America, Billboard reports.
The documentary will air November 16 and will take a “fresh look at the historic impact of Latin music in the U.S.” Tommy Mottola, who was an executive at Sony during the '90s, and oversaw Shakira, J.Lo, Ricky Martin, and Marc Anthony as they took over the English-language market, is the executive producer.
“We have assembled the largest array of Latino superstars ever in a film telling a powerful story of their history and immigration, politics, and rise from a small minority population to the most critical demographic in the United States,” Mottola told Rolling Stone in a statement. "Latinos spend $1.3 trillion a year, making them one of the most powerful groups of consumers today. Latinos played a large part in the outcome of the last election and will certainly be a larger part in the upcoming 2016 election. There is no doubt in my mind that by 2025 we will have a Latino president."
Translation: Latinos are everywhere in the U.S., and we’re here to stay, so get used to us! (JK.) (But really though.)
